 Many People neglect their feet although they play a significant role in their lives. In winter we tend to ignore them as they're all covered up and in summer we may think that a dab of trendy nail polish will do the trick. Feet need much more than a coat of bright polish. They along with our hands need constant attention and loads of TLC.

Today I just want to talk a bit about leadership and what it means. And I think that this is one of the most overooked aspects in all business. We sometimes forget that leadship means getting things done through people. It happens when there is an objective to be acheived.

All managers are by definition leaders in that they can only do what they have to do with the support of their team, who must be inspired orpersuaded to follow them. And what I want you to focus and remember this week where ever you are and whatever industry you are in is that, Leadership is required because someone has to point the way and that same person has to ensure that everyone concerned gets there. Organizational effectiveness depends on the quality of leadership.

JULY SALES RECORD BROKEN AGAIN - IN JUST 18 DAYS

DR BAUMANN SOTH AFRICA continues to break records when it comes to growing the sales. 

Last month of June DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA celebrated the best month of June ever (READ HERE ), however, it took DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA a whole month of work to break this sales record. 

Now, it happened again, on July the 18th, in just 18 days, DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA sold more that in any month of July since it started in 2005. In just 18 days!!! and there is still 12 days to go until the rest of this month. 

So far in the first 18 days, DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA sold 76% more than the same month in 2011!!!

MORE SALES are a result and not just a target, IT IS A RESULT OF DOING MORE:

Doing more in the following business areas: 

  1. Products:   DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA increased it’s product stock levels so that a better and faster delivery will support customers and the growing sales. 
  2. Prices:   DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA reduced consumer prices by up to 25% at the beginning of 2011 and made the product more affordable for more customers. Payment conditions: Better and improved payment conditions (payment terms) were offered to customers that had good payments and credit scores... Special offers: As you know, DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA offers 52 promotions and specials in each year (1 NEW special offer each week). 
  3. Publicity (and communication):   DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA advertised the seminars in the local professional magazines (2 magazines) and became more present in the market. In addition, endless e-mail campaigns were directed to potential customers (beauty salons) as invitations to the monthly seminars. Physical distribution / place - DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA offers a very fast delivery system (order today and we ship today or latest the next day), PLUS a very friendly ordering process over the phone. Products are also taken to the beauty salons that do the workshops and products are delivered at the same time as the workshops take place. As mentioned, stock levels are constantly updated and orders from germany are made in good time to serve the growth. 
  5. People: DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA increased the number of staff members that includes now an in-house designers PLUS DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA will soon employ a national training and education manager... PLUS , Stephanie’s support..
  6. Process: DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA maintains weekly team meetings that take place each Monday morning and last for about 1.5-2 hours. THE BEST MONTH EVER WITH NEW SALES RECORD

The recent month of June was the BEST MONTH IN JUNE EVER (since 2005). This means that DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA  has reached a A NEW SALES RECORD that has exceeded the sales of any month of June since 2005. 

This NEW SALES RECORD was achieved in spite of the general  and global atmosphere of an international economic crisis or at least an economic slow down etc...

 

When you want to increase your sales, you need to start focusing on 2 main factors: 

  1. You need to have more products 
  2. You need to gain new customers  

 

  1. You need to have more products - DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA increased it’s product stock levels to meet the increased demand that was expressed by the market via our beauty salons. 
  2. You need to gain new customers - We managed to gain new customers (new staff/team members and more committed staff), new customers (beauty salons) as well as new customers (new consumers/end users). 

 

This NEW SALES RECORD is especially interesting as we reduced our prices by about 25% (in January last year). That meant that we needed to sell many more product units seeing that the sales are a multiplication of product units multiplied in price. So, we not only sold more RANDS, but more importantly and  very impressive is that we sold even more product units. 

This means that there are NOW more consumers that are using DR BAUMANN SKINCARE as their preferred home-care, PLUS, there are more consumers that already use DR BAUMANN SKINCARE and now buy and consume more and additional products that they didnt use in the past i.e: a consumer that used to buy a cleanser, cream and liposome also buys  a mask, shampoo  etc now.

 

If you think about it, you need MORE AND DIFFERENT PRODUCTS so that you can introduce MORE AND DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS to the consumers/end users

 

  • This is the POINT: When you can introduce MORE AND DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS  (via MORE AND DIFFERENT PRODUCTS) you can attract MORE AND DIFFERENT CUSTOMERS. 
  • Another essential understanding: the more consumers  that use your products, the more people talk about you and your business. This energy and momentum on it’s own can and will attract more customers to your business.

 

So, this is a part of the MAGIC FORMULA: More products = more solutions = more customers = results in more sales. (feel free to change or replace the word “products” with the word “services or treatments” and you will have a similar positive effect)

 

There are many reasons and specific activities that contributed to this special achievement of the BEST MONTH OF JUNE EVER. We will expose those additional points in the next POSTS (keep reading...)

How to Conduct an Interview

Even though you are a salon and not really in a corprate environment, it does not mean that you should neglect your interviews. The interview MUST be planned to get information from the candidate which will enable his experience, qualifications and personal qualities to be measured agains the requirements set out in the job specification. There is no one best way of doing an interview. Below is a reasanobly typical approach to an interview.
1.  Put the candidate at his ease, he will be nervous and you want him to relax so that he can express himself freely
2. Explain how you are going to handle the interview.
3. Start with a brief description of the job and the company. Do not spend too long over this, especially if the candidate is a marginal one. You can elaborate at the end of the interview.
4. Invite the candidate to describe in his own words his education and career to date. Do not delve too deeply into the istant past - spend most time on the current job. If necessary probe a bit to ensure that te candidte is giving you the full picture. Everyone glosses over any less successful episodes in his career. Find a way to get him to tell you not only what he did but why he did it. This particularly relevant when discussing choice of career and reasons for leaving jobs. It will give you a chance to assess how well he is motivated.
5. Give him the opportunity to talk about his achievements and to explain any setbacks.
6. Allow time at the end of the inteview for him to ask questions.
The information gathering part of the interview should last between 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the level of job.
Always try to get them in for a second interview for a reference point on whether or not he is still what you think he is.
