How to Approuch an Interview
I don't think I have ever met anyone that thinks they are a bad interviewer. Just like everyone believes that they are a good driver, but if it was so we would not have any accident on the road now would we? So to can job failure be attributed to poor selection in the firtst place. Many research has shown that predictions made at interviews often fail because of bias, failure to get the information required, or inability to interpret the information. To avoid these problems you need to adopt a systematic approach. In the beauty industry a lot of salons only ask the therapist to do a short massage as well as a manicure or even a facial, later on ones they are hired and they cannot improve their monthly figures we question why, but has the therapist been interviewed as a sales person as well. Lets face it, most of the profit comes from the sales you do on products, so why is it that no one interviews keeping this in mind? This is why you need to consider the mehtod of interviewing you use, how to conduct the interview and how to evaute the results.
An interview is basically described as a conversation with a purpose. The candidate should be drawn out to talk freely about himself and her career. The interviewer should restrict herself to asking questions and making encouraging grunts. Open ended questions will poduce the most informative answers, "yes or no" questions should be avoided as far as possible. By asking "tell me about your present job" you will get most of what you want to know and gaps can be filled in by asking follow up questions. Avoid leading questions which indicate the answer you are expecting. The interview must also provides the candidate with information about the job and the company so that they can also make a good informed decision without any suprises later on.

Fathers Day!
What a special day, I don't know about you but I am definitely a Daddy's Girl and my father has a big influence on my life and also who I became. Thinking from a business perspective this is also one of the biggest celebrated days next to Valentines day and Monthers day, so some thought must definitely be put into it.
Right now at this very second, people are walking around, browsing the internet etc on what to get for their fathers. Will you be the one they find offering them the perfect gift? As promised today I will talk a bit more about what type of Characteristics Organizations should have to be able to be innovating.

3. A tradition of working in teams and sharing credits.

Innovation - Individual Characteristics
Last week I wrote about what it means to be innovating and what is needed. Today I will look at the individual characteristics of what you need to be innovating.
To be an effective innovator you need:
1. To know what you want to achieve, don't worry just yet about how to achieve them it will come.
2. To define clearly the aims and benefits of the project.
3. To argue the case for the project persuasively.
4. To get support not only from your boss/investors but also from your staff and colleagues.
5. Courage to take calculated risks and not give in when the inevitable setbacks occur.
6. To be great at getting people into action
7. Be able to get things done.
8. The ability to handle opposition or interference on the project.
9. Be able to maintain momentum and not loose enthusiasm in more tedious work.
All of these aspects are important and if you recognize that you are unable to do some of these things, don't worry you can always hire someone that can cover the ones you can't, if that is not in play learn how to deligate to the correct people.

Innovation
Innovation is the life-blood of an organization. There is nothing so stultifying to a company - or the people in it - as a belief that the old ways must be the best ways. An Organization which tries to stand still will not surive. And this I see everyday in business around me. They work hard to get to a certain point and then theys it back and relax, unfortunetly it does not work that way.
Innovation requires a blend of creativity, clear thinking and the ability to get things done. It requires thinkers and doers to work closely together. Management or Owners must create a climate in which staff have the scope to develop new ideas and the resources to implement them.
The success of innovative projects, therfore, can be seen to depend on two things:
1. The Characteristics of the individual manager and
2. The Climate of the Business.
Next week I will talk a bit more about innovation and what individual charactaristics is needed to be an effective innovator.
