Tips For A More Productive Day

Practice the following techniques to become the master of your own time:

  1. Carry a schedule and record all your thoughts, conversations and activities for a week. This will help you understand how much you can get done during the course of a day and where your precious moments are going. You'll see how much time is actually spent producing results and how much time is wasted on unproductive thoughts, conversations and actions.
  2. Any activity or conversation that's important to your success should have a time assigned to it. To-do lists get longer and longer to the point where they're unworkable. Appointment books work. Schedule appointments with yourself and create time blocks for high-priority thoughts, conversations, and actions. Schedule when they will begin and end. Have the discipline to keep these appointments.
  3. Plan to spend at least 50 percent of your time engaged in the thoughts, activities and conversations that produce most of your results.
  4. Schedule time for interruptions. Plan time to be pulled away from what you're doing. Take, for instance, the concept of having "office hours." Isn't "office hours" another way of saying "planned interruptions?"
  5. Take the first 30 minutes of every day to plan your day. Don't start your day until you complete your time plan. The most important time of your day is the time you schedule to schedule time.
  6. Take five minutes before every call and task to decide what result you want to attain. This will help you know what success looks like before you start. And it will also slow time down. Take five minutes after each call and activity to determine whether your desired result was achieved. If not, what was missing? How do you put what's missing in your next call or activity?
  7. Put up a "Do not disturb" sign when you absolutely have to get work done.
  8. Practice not answering the phone just because it's ringing and e-mails just because they show up. Disconnect instant messaging. Don't instantly give people your attention unless it's absolutely crucial in your business to offer an immediate human response. Instead, schedule a time to answer email and return phone calls.
  9. Block out other distractions like Facebook and other forms of social media unless you use these tools to generate business.
  10. Remember that it's impossible to get everything done. Also remember that odds are good that 20 percent of your thoughts, conversations and activities produce 80 percent of your results.

 Many People neglect their feet although they play a significant role in their lives. In winter we tend to ignore them as they're all covered up and in summer we may think that a dab of trendy nail polish will do the trick. Feet need much more than a coat of bright polish. They along with our hands need constant attention and loads of TLC.

Today I just want to talk a bit about leadership and what it means. And I think that this is one of the most overooked aspects in all business. We sometimes forget that leadship means getting things done through people. It happens when there is an objective to be acheived.

All managers are by definition leaders in that they can only do what they have to do with the support of their team, who must be inspired orpersuaded to follow them. And what I want you to focus and remember this week where ever you are and whatever industry you are in is that, Leadership is required because someone has to point the way and that same person has to ensure that everyone concerned gets there. Organizational effectiveness depends on the quality of leadership.

JULY SALES RECORD BROKEN AGAIN - IN JUST 18 DAYS

DR BAUMANN SOTH AFRICA continues to break records when it comes to growing the sales. 

Last month of June DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA celebrated the best month of June ever (READ HERE ), however, it took DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA a whole month of work to break this sales record. 

Now, it happened again, on July the 18th, in just 18 days, DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA sold more that in any month of July since it started in 2005. In just 18 days!!! and there is still 12 days to go until the rest of this month. 

So far in the first 18 days, DR BAUMANN SOUTH AFRICA sold 76% more than the same month in 2011!!!

MORE SALES are a result and not just a target, IT IS A RESULT OF DOING MORE:

Doing more in the following business areas:

How to Conduct an Interview

Even though you are a salon and not really in a corprate environment, it does not mean that you should neglect your interviews. The interview MUST be planned to get information from the candidate which will enable his experience, qualifications and personal qualities to be measured agains the requirements set out in the job specification. There is no one best way of doing an interview. Below is a reasanobly typical approach to an interview.
1.  Put the candidate at his ease, he will be nervous and you want him to relax so that he can express himself freely
2. Explain how you are going to handle the interview.
3. Start with a brief description of the job and the company. Do not spend too long over this, especially if the candidate is a marginal one. You can elaborate at the end of the interview.
4. Invite the candidate to describe in his own words his education and career to date. Do not delve too deeply into the istant past - spend most time on the current job. If necessary probe a bit to ensure that te candidte is giving you the full picture. Everyone glosses over any less successful episodes in his career. Find a way to get him to tell you not only what he did but why he did it. This particularly relevant when discussing choice of career and reasons for leaving jobs. It will give you a chance to assess how well he is motivated.
5. Give him the opportunity to talk about his achievements and to explain any setbacks.
6. Allow time at the end of the inteview for him to ask questions.
The information gathering part of the interview should last between 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the level of job.
Always try to get them in for a second interview for a reference point on whether or not he is still what you think he is.

How to Approuch an Interview

I don't think I have ever met anyone that thinks they are a bad interviewer. Just like everyone believes that they are a good driver, but if it was so we would not have any accident on the road now would we? So to can job failure be attributed to poor selection in the firtst place. Many research has shown that predictions made at interviews often fail because of bias, failure to get the information required, or inability to interpret the information. To avoid these problems you need to adopt a systematic approach. In the beauty industry a lot of salons only ask the therapist to do a short massage as well as a manicure or even a facial, later on ones they are hired and they cannot improve their monthly figures we question why, but has the therapist been interviewed as a sales person as well. Lets face it, most of the profit comes from the sales you do on products, so why is it that no one interviews keeping this in mind? This is why you need to consider the mehtod of interviewing you use, how to conduct the interview and how to evaute the results.

An interview is basically described as a conversation with a purpose. The candidate should be drawn out to talk freely about himself and her career. The interviewer should restrict herself to asking questions and making encouraging grunts. Open ended questions will poduce the most informative answers, "yes or no" questions should be avoided as far as possible. By asking "tell me about your present job" you will get most of what you want to know and gaps can be filled in by asking follow up questions. Avoid leading questions which indicate the answer you are expecting. The interview must also provides the candidate with information about the job and the company so that they can also make a good informed decision without any suprises later on.

Fathers Day!

What a special day, I don't know about you but I am definitely a Daddy's Girl and my father has a big influence on my life and also who I became. Thinking from a business perspective this is also one of the biggest celebrated days next to Valentines day and Monthers day, so some thought must definitely be put into it.

Right now at this very second, people are walking around, browsing the internet etc on what to get for their fathers. Will you be the one they find offering them the perfect gift? Innovation - Individual Characteristics

Last week I wrote about what it means to be innovating and what is needed. Today I will look at the individual characteristics of what you need to be innovating.

To be an effective innovator you need:

1.  To know what you want to achieve, don't worry just yet about how to achieve them it will come.

2.  To define clearly the aims and benefits of the project.

3.  To argue the case for the project persuasively.

4.  To get support not only from your boss/investors but also from your staff and colleagues. 

5.  Courage to take calculated risks and not give in when the inevitable setbacks occur.

6.  To be great at getting people into action

7.  Be able to get things done.

8.  The ability to handle opposition or interference on the project.

9.  Be able to maintain momentum and not loose enthusiasm in more tedious work.

All of these aspects are important and if you recognize that you are unable to do some of these things, don't worry you can always hire someone that can cover the ones you can't, if that is not in play learn how to deligate to the correct people.
